The Scholars Portal electronic journal collection contains more than 8 million articles from over 7,300 full text scholarly journals published by major distributors and presses (titles and numbers will vary with institution).
Our service integrates & supports RefWorks, a web-based citation management system and interlibrary loan & document delivery protocols through RACER (Rapid Access to Collections by Electronic Requesting) system which provides connections to the university libraries in Ontario and to major research libraries throughout the world to get the resources you need.

Innovation Achievement Award to OCUL & Scholars Portal (06/16/2005)
This year, CACUL (Canadian Association of College and University Libraries) presented the 2005 Innovation Achievement Award to OCUL (Ontario Council of University Libraries) in recognition of OCUL's continued commitment to innovation and for its exceptional achievement in the development of Scholars Portal.
The Innovoation Achievement Award reflects not only the achievements of the Scholars Portal staff but also the commitment of the OCUL members to the vision of a province-wide information service for supporting research, enhancing teaching, simplifying learning, and advancing scholarship throughout all of Ontario's universities.
Ensuring that learning becomes a collaborative process ensuring that learning does not just rely on books. Collaboration of ideas via tecnological tools not only encourages on-going communication but also enhances the opportunities to gain new knowledge from others.
Our RefWork services gaining support (10/31/2005)
Scholars Portal would like to welcome three new Universities from outside of Ontario who are now having their RefWorks accounts hosted through Scholars Portal. They are the University of New Brunswick, Concordia University and Universite de Sherbrooke. Scholars Portal continues its collaborative efforts to offer services to institutions from beyond Ontario and with these three institutions, others in Canada will soon follow.

RefWorks is a web-based bibliographic management service that allows you to create your own personal database of references.

Scholars Portal is a collaborative library initiative, to give you a single point of electronic access to high-quality published research from a broad range of disciplines.
Inter Library Loan (RACER)
Rapid Access to Collections via Electronic Requesting is currently used by OCUL for Inter Library Loan.

Scholars Portal Forum (31/01/2006)
The Ontario Council of University Libraries (OCUL) is pleased to announce a Scholars Portal Forum titled "Demonstrating Value and Creating Value: Evidenced-Based Library Management" on February 1, 2006 from 9am - 5:00pm at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre, Toronto, Ontario. The forum is targeted for library staff from participating OCUL Libraries. At the forum participants will have opportunities to better understand the strengths of data from Scholars Portal to use in meaningful and powerful ways.
Guest Speakers include Martha Kyrillidou, ARL's (American Research Libraries) Director, Statistics & Measurement Program and Brinley Franklin, Vice Provost for University Libraries, University of Connecticut. Also speaking will be Alan Darnell, Manager, Scholarly Information Resources Project and members of the Scholars Portal team. In addition, Toni Olshen from York University who is the program coordinator and a key participant and contributor to the MINES survey will also be speaking.
Website Launched (11/10/2005)
Welcome to the new Scholars Portal Website, a site invented to promote the services and goals of Scholars Portal along with acting as a central point of departure from which to explore the services which are transforming research, teaching and learning.
Illumina Search (06/10/2005)
Known as Illumina Search the name will soon be changed to Scholars Portal Search. The search functionality will not merely search CSA (Cambridge Scientific Abstracts) databases but SAGE databases as well. Plans for summer 2005 include the roll-out of several more databases within Scholars Portal Search rendering this federated search even more powerful for researchers.
